I am a
native Texan, having lived the majority of my life in the Brazosport
area. My husband David is a retired draftsman and my son Bryan,
daughter-in-law Courtney and grandchildren Kirsten and Seth live in
Lake Jackson. After completing a 30-year career in Marketing,
Logistics and Purchasing at BASF, I now have time to pursue my love of
art. Although I have never taken lessons nor had a formal art
education, I have managed to develop my own style of painting which has
become recognizable to those who frequent the Brazosport Art League
Gallery.
Due to my love of nature, my favorite subjects to paint are flowers,
tree roots, water reflections and animals. I prefer to do
monotone pen and ink drawings using dots (stippling), but also enjoy
using various water-media such as watercolor, acrylic and colored
ink. As I have never enjoyed using a brush to paint, I try to
develop new techniques using various objects to achieve the look I am
going for. As a result it is not unusual to see me developing my
painting by using a dauber, a q-tip, a pallet knife, a stylist, artist
markers, or artist ink pens. In fact, one of the styles I have
developed is embossing my completed paintings. It gives the
impression of dimension and resembles the texture of a “snake
skin”.
